Tony Elliot &
Nick Fonoro
Tony and Nick both
have been Kevin's
team mates in the
past.  Kevin believes
that the year he was
team mates with
Nick (Nokie) Fonoro
was the most fun he
has ever had.  Nokie
not only taught him,
but also brought a
fun and enthusiastic
element to the team.

Tony Elliot has seen
Kevin go from a
rookie in the midgets
to a tough competitor
on pavement. He
also has seen
Kevin's transition in
the sprint cars.
Whether it was the
days where Kevin
was nothing short of
a track hazard to the
times where Kevin
has seen success,
Tony has always
been there to offer
words of wisdom or
encouragment. Kevin
is deeply grateful that
through it all, Tony
has always been
supportive of his
efforts.
Dave
Argabright
&
Al Consoli

Quite simply, the
industry's leaders
in their fields.
Team Besecker
has a joke that
Dave could write
the phone book
and Al could take
a picture of it and
we would want to
look at it and read
it for hours.

These two lend
more than just
journalism skills to
our sport.  Their
writings and
photos generate
an emotional
response from
their viewers.
Both make a
person feel as if
they stood
trackside when
the photo was
taken or the story
was written...even
when the subject
is from 50 years
ago.

Dave and Al do
much  more than
just reporting
facts or taking
simple pictures for
reference.  Their
works tell stories
and are infused
with heart and
soul.  Dave's pen
and Al's camera
breath life into this
wonderful sport
and for that we
are so grateful.

Rick Ferkel

"The Ohio Traveler" has always been one of Kevin's favorites.  Ferkel was a true Outlaw.. more
than just the name.  Rick didn't get caught up in racing exclusively with certain series, he raced
wherever he could, whenever he could and often ran away with the money.  Kevin always says
that this is the mark of a REAL racer and Rick was the epitome of this.  Rick also was known to
groove his own tires, experiment with different designs and "push the envelope" never caring
what anyone thought or listening to the critics.  To Team Besecker, Rick represents that which
was real and pure about our sport.

Today, Rick can always be found with the same dazzling smile on his face that he has carried
for many years.  He helps the young guys coming up, like Lee Boss and offers praise and
encouragement to many drivers in the pits.

Rich Vogler
As a youngster, Kevin was in awe of Rich
Vogler.  Kevin would watch Rich at his
hometown track of Eldora Speedway and
was astounded by his flamboyant and
aggresive driving.  Kevin always said that
Vogler had ice in his veins and feared no
one or no thing.  He was also impressed
with Rich's ability to stomp the field on
dirt at Eldora on a Saturday and then go to
paved Winchester on Sundays and do the
same.    Kevin also feels that the
scholarship set up in Rich's memory is
one of the very best additions to our
racing family ever created  . More
information about Rich and his families
scholarship fund can be found by clicking

Robbie Stanley
As a young boy, Kevin watched Robbie
Stanley tackle the steep banks of
Winchester Speedway.  It was Robbie's
no fear approach to that track inspired
Kevin so much so that when he put his
own first laps around that track he was
known for passing on the outside, just a
few inches from the wall.  Robbie was
always an inspiration to Kevin and
someone he continues to respect today.
In 2004 On Kevin's sprint car dash,
Robbies motto, "No Regrets" serves as a
reminder to race every lap in a way that at
the end of the night he, too  will have no
regrets.

In 2004 at the Robbie Stanley Classic at
Lawrenceburg Speedway, Kevin not only
made the race, but charged from 10 rows
deep to a 7th place finish on 4 race old
tires.  His motivation?  This race was held
in honor of one of his true heroes. More
information about Robbie can be found by

This page is dedicated to those people outside of Kevin's family that have
made a lasting impression in one way or another.
This is a rather eclectic mix!
Jack Hewitt
With Jack living just a short drive from Kevin's Greenville, Ohio home
town...Jack was more than just a hero, he was a friend.  Jack inspired Kevin
from the earliest ages with his hammer down aggressive driving.  However,
what impressed Kevin the most about Jack was his fan friendly disposition.  To
this day, Kevin remembers Jack as being one of the only drivers to seem to
have all of the time in the world to talk to fans...and even young curious kids
like Kevin.  This accessibility has served as inspiration to Kevin and has made
Kevin be the kind of driver that always has time for a fan as well.  Even today,
Jack continues to serve as an inspiration to Kevin.  Jack's talent and
toughness is only second to his heart and his generosity.

No other spot on earth thrilled and inspired Kevin more. For 20
years he has seen the best of the best race at this legendary track
only 20 minutes from home.  As a young boy, he would dig his feet
in the dirt, smell the methanol in the air and dream of becoming a
race car driver. It was there that legends were made for some and
dreams were created for others.   Kevin salutes Earl for 50 years of
the most breathtaking racing ever to be seen.

Kevin can

Kevin's  racing

Kevin was a

Ralph Liguori
Ralph is one "old timer" that Kevin has many fond personal
memories of.  Ralph always had time for Kevin...even when Kevin
was a young annoying kid.  To this day, when he sees Ralph, Ralph
still has a funny story or interesting anecdote to brighten Kevin's
day.  Ralph is one of the funniest and charismatic people Kevin has
ever met.  More information about Ralph and his racing grandson

Jim Hall & Family
At Charlotte this year, Kevin had a very tough night.  He has always been
severely under-motored, but it was painfully obvious on the 3/8th mile heavy
track.  Kevin had started to question if he should have even had his dad
bring him such a long way and was feeling very badly when a man and his
teenage grandson walked up to the pits.  This man was Jim Hall.  Jim had
driven a few hours from his Marion, NC home to come see the highly talked
about USAC boys.  Instead of making his way to the MOPAR rig parked just 2
spots down, Jim stopped by Team Besecker's to offer encouragment.  He
told Kevin that it was obvious he was out motored, but wanted to
compliment him on driving as hard as he possibly could and making a whole
hearted attempt despite his "handicap".  Jim talked to Kevin for a while and
then as he was leaving he gave Kevin a $100 dollar bill and told him to buy a
meal or pay for a hotel.  While this might not seem like much to most race
teams, this was very special to Team Besecker.  Not only had this man who
Kevin had never met gone out of his way to tell Kevin he did a good job
despite the outcome, he also gave a generous gift that helped alleviate a
portion of the trip.  Kevin is truly grateful to Jim for his generosity and more
importantly for the random act of kindness that refueled Kevin's spirit.

Jim Hall is the owner operator of AMERICAN PLASTICS Inc. in Marion, North Carolina,
(828) 652-3511.
If you ever have the need for plastic injection molding, please patronize this man's
business. He  may have came to see the "superstars" but in the end it was the
"underdog" he made feel super.
